Lots Happening at NEECA in 2022

NEECA is MORE than ready for things to get back to normal in 2022.  The Board of Directors has been hard at work scheduling NEECA’s Calendar of Events for this year.  While we have kept some of the golden oldies, we are very excited about the new events we’ll be offering. The following is a brief overview of just a few of the things that will be happening at NEECA in the coming months.

The first Gymkhana of our 7-event series will be held on April 24th. Lise Krieger will be doing a saddle fitting demo for us on May 7th. On May 21/22 we’ll be hosting a 2-day English/Western Dressage Clinic with Devin Burdick. Then, for something TOTALLY new and different, NEECA will be hosting a Triathlon on June 11th, in cooperation with the Athol YMCA.  Teams will consist of a horseback rider, bicyclist, and walker/jogger. Times for each team will be combined to decide winner. We are extremely excited about this unique event and think NEECA is the perfect place to host it!

Then get ready for the Donkey/Mule show that will be held at our back field and Confidence Course on June 25th!

After that we’ll be heading down to Barre to host one of the horse shows in the BRDC series at Felton Field on July 10th.   We were just overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response we received for the 2 MSPCA Equine Rescue Clinics we’ll be offering on July 16th & 23rd.  It was wonderful to see so many horse folks interested in these clinics.

Two more “first ever” events we will offering this year are the MicroChip Clinic on Sept. 10th, followed by a Hunter Pace up at NEECA on Sept. 17th.  Add in a couple of Cash Gymkhanas in June/August/November, a Poker Ride, and the Elwin Bacon Day and you can tell we have a pretty busy year ahead of us.  And we are still working on MORE!!

NEECA stands for the New England Equestrian Center of Athol.  We are a non-profit organization consisting of nearly 200 members who are developing a municipal equestrian park on ~250 acres in Athol, MA.  Currently the park offers a 240’ x 100’ main arena, a 200’ x200’ warm-up ring, a round pen, enclosed Confidence Course, and miles of trails.  As seen above, we also offer a wide variety of events for our membership and other horse lovers to enjoy every year.

A NEECA membership costs just $25 year and comes with a number of money saving benefits.  Interested in learning more? Go to our membership page to sign up today and take the first step in becoming part of something special!
